hi lads and perhaps even lasses, first time poster here and proud owner of a couple of resto job HQ Premiers.

ill tell you more about that later but for now...

i am having a major issue with the fitment of the 350 chev and 350 turbo trans into the HQ. the cross member doesnt sit right with the rear mount on the trans and the trans itself sits right up the top of the tunnel... the car previously had the stock 253 from factory.

i will gladly post some pictures up if there is anyone out there that could help me.

cheers

You need a Holden TH350 crossmember. Look to late HZ Statesman or pre mid 1982 WB Statesman. This assumes you have a TH350 with the Holden extension on the end.
Make sure you are also using Chev into HQ engine mount adapters.

awesome help HK cheers, my mate had a HZ crossmember so it was as easy as making up a plate that we could weld onto the original crossmember.

the white one is the next project, made a little start friday by ripping out the old interior... the last bloke that had it, left cigarette butts under the carpet...

next is the other prem with the 350 sitting in and the crossmember sitting incorrectly. will post pictures of how we solved it tomorrow :)

as you can see, a simple (but effective) 10MM plate was measured out and welded to the crossmember.

had to change the mounts from left to right right to left so the engine would sit up straight.
