Im asking this here because I'm sure others have found an effective way of moving parts from A to B.
There is a bonnet for sale in Adelaide. If I buy it it needs to come to Canberra or Queanbeyan.
Anyone got any suggestions on the best people to use for this or know of a truck driver that wants to make a little extra cash?

Jim,
as long as you can get the person you buy it off to wrap it... I have used furniture removalists to move a couple of guards and a quarter panel specifically look for companies that will backload... makes it heaps cheaper
oh and make sure it gets "TOP LOAD ONLY" written all over it
so if you are looking to get it from adelaide you need to ring removalists in the ACT so when they are delivering a load to SA they can pick up your panel on the return trip...

Bit of a gamble this one Jim, depends on the panel I suppose and how hard it would be to track down another if it were to get lost or damaged beyond repair.
Id be asking around to see if someone from a forum you are on is going that way then slinging them some dollars to help you out.

I have used aussie air express heaps its really cheap if you have an account just make sure they tick off peak when it gets picked up. most buisness owners will have an account, if you dont its cost heaps.
I have got guards and doors shipped with no hastles urmm nah i once had a guard dropped off at yamanto shops about 50km away but i still got it undamaged in the end. |

Aus Air is a very professional service, and their trackiing system is great.
I used Toll Ipec to ship a nosecone from outer Melbourne to just north of Sydney, cost me $100, but thats with a freight broker and account at work.
Most companies charge on space taken up by the goods.
In my experience, most drivers are reasonably respectful if you can see what the goods are. If theyre totally boxed up, they do get pretty careless from time to time.
Also a lot of drivers, or maybe this is just me and my work, are Aussie blokes who either had cars, have cars, or just appreciate them enough to respect a panel in transit.
But its still a bit of a gamble. |

Thanks for all of the advice so far. By Aus Air I hope you dont mean Australian Air Express those useless fools wont deliver a small parcel to my house. I have to go to the post office and pick it up. TNT offer service to my house.
Its a rare in Australia bonnet so I think that air freight on it might cost a fair bit.
I might look into the removalist backload option though as they have blankets.
If I get it cheap enough Ill build a crate and ship it to the seller.
If at first you dont succeed then skydiving is not for you. |

Hi Jim. I got a bonnet from SA to WA 2 months ago. The guy i brought it off put it on the train for me as luggage. cost $200 though. the guy cardboarded the edges and i had to meet the train in perth to help get it off. Train people were easy to talk to and helpful(get freight #).not a scratch. worth a look.
