gday all had my prem on the dyno and found it running very lean, around 14:1 afr, im thinking of tackling the carb rebuild myself but am unsure of metering rod sizes etc that ill need and where to get them from. its an early quaddy on a hg 308 with crow 5761 cam, ported l34 heads, 10:1 comp and made 183 rwhp at approx 4600 rpm. anyone got any experience rebuilding these carbs? any help would be greatly appreciated cheers crocky

See Mick at MLP Carbs in Reservoir . He is one the only guys left that restore them to concours condition and actually correctly straighten the carby bodies before he even works on the carby (most dont bother). He has rebuilt over 50 Quadraet carbies for me and the attention to details is phenominal . I am sure he could get one sorted for you for a hpttie also If you want cheap junk rebuit by Hillbillies use All Carb in Werribee Melbourne. I have been there and seen there quality and workers and they are basically six fingered banjo players . Like all these thinsg a some new plating and they all look the same , they are not . He imports USA Olds and Buick carbs and sells them as 308 ones . Hope this helps . www.monaromuscleparts.com

I remember that guy at ABC , he was a nice bloke and knew his stuff . Problem is he was no so much into the detail side of things , but really that only a matter of parts and plating . The Rev has pretty much retired from here Frank , and you would laugh if you knew who it really was . www.monaromuscleparts.com

I agree, had many a grief with a Warped Body or Horn on a Rochester and gave up on them for a while. Tested the Holleys and found those Damn Cross Tubes leak unpredictably, Ugh! If a Roddy idles really smooth, you can get more out of them OOmF! wise by richening, slightly bigger jets, fuel economy wont suffer too badly.
