I happily bought a copy only to find as usual that bugger all info or photographs are included for HJ coupes, especially the LS considering their where very few made.

The same goes for trying to find a "market value" for them. Unique cars doesnt even recognise the model in their car valuations!

Cheers,
Allan

i didnt even look at it. we were all sitting around the round table, discussing tag rivets and silver mink red trim grain style, when it was passed over to one of us that ripped it up to start the pot belly going...
good fire it turned out to be, and what a day of "remember when" we all had...ahhhhhh

I think its great. That silver & orange HQ coupe is one of the nicest examples around imho, and owned by a great bloke too.
Some fantastic racing pix and technical stuff too. Bet they sell for more than 10 bucks in time to come..........

If you like it buy it. If you dont like it, dont buy it. Life can be simple sometimes.

I think you will find that a magazine, book, or even a hamburger you have to buy first before you find out how good it is.

A couple of items on this one.

Firstly, the magazine was to be HK only, as a 40th celebraion as such. However as things go, Eric then found some other stuff on other models and wanted to include this also.

This then led to other things and hence some non HK Monaros included.

There is no technical info on anything other than HK, so as they say do not judge a magazine by its cover. If you want information on other than HK then this mag is not for you. Maybe Eric will do an all model Monaro mag in the future if this one is popular.

Hello Allan,

If you want some nice HJ LS shots get Fiv Antonious "History of the Holden V8"

It has some nice shots on pages 74, 75 and 78.

Also check page 89 with salsman handbook extract for monaro lS.

Fair comment. I suppose there is an element of risk we prepare to take. $10 for a magazine, but the hamburger could be a waste of $5 and a severe bout of gastro. ouch!

A bit of a poke and prod, and look underneath can help. Oh and a test drive.

This Monaro magazine is pure rubbish just like the regular magazines from this publisher. A quick look and my $10 stayed in my pocket and thats just as well as for less than $20 I picked up a great read yesterday from Target called - Holden versus Ford. This book is a gem and contains some really great pictures and information on the famous battle of the car companies. Lots of HQ cars are featured. Do yourselves a favour and pick up a copy. And no, I am not a writer but someone who knows a good value read when I see one.

Yes, D.A. I totally agree. That Holden versus Ford book is a great read, especially at the price. Strange looking XC ute on page 117 though, looks more like a UC hatch to me.

I saw that there the other day, and obviously wrongly assumed it was junk. Ill get one tomorrow. Obviously whoever coined "you cant tell a book by its cover" was correct!
