Hi all, Im looking at buying one of those NOS WB De Ville grille inserts off ebay but not sure if series I and II are different?
A while ago I read somewhere that they were different, but I have never compared them side by side. To me, the series II grille appears to have a bit of black in it which makes the vertical sections more pronounced, but the insert still has provision for the series I De Ville badge with the long pins.
Any help would be much appreciated Rhys

See if you can pick up some Caprice bars, centre bar and screws. Looks heaps better.

Totally agree with you Byron, but its a stock Magnum without black outs and I want to keep it looking original. But now that youve mentioned it, I could try the Caprice bars and see how it looks.

Or buy a cracked or corroded Caprice grill and strip it. The bars are aluminium and dont corrode anywhere near as bad as the diecast surround. Rhys, being a Magnum it might have a totally different grille paint scheme so any NOS Deville one would probably do.

Thanks guys, I might look at doing that, even just to see how it looks. The De Ville Magnums either had just a standard grille or the insert was painted black and the surround colour coded to the body if the blackout option was chosen. However Ive never seen a Caprice Magnum with the blackout option, only De Villes.
If anyone else does happen to know what the Series I / II grille differences are Id still be very interested to know.
Rhys

nothing at all different on the inserts themselves between series 1 and 2...grille surrounds had different stick on badging between deville and caprice series 1 and 2...magnum differences were paint...pm comnut for that one..caprice grille slats and centre bar are available new and i have them.... going to church makes you no more a christian than standing in a garage makes you a car... www.classicozwreck.com.au |
