I went to a Monaro display in Bundoora Melbourne on Saturday as advertised in the Cars Guide to have a look at the Shaker nostalgic drag car. Anyway while there a guy called Norm Darwin, who I was told is writing a new Monaro history type of book. I noticed him taking photos of stripes and blackout on HKTG Monaros.
I was also told he has written other Holden history books, from a quick Google search I see this is true.
Just wondering what if anything anyone else has heard about this book.

Yes Norm Darwin worked at Holden, in the engineering department I believe. Not sure on Gavins background, but he has bn working on his book for a while, I sent some info to him about 2 years ago.
This will make 6 specific Monaro books being written, spotlight 1 and 2, Monaro story, rebirth of a legend and these two. Hopefully someone will do one on all Toranas. Then there is the Commodore King.
The more books the better, great way to share info.
Warren

Yes, as Warren has said, Norm worked at GM-H for a long time, he also wrote many articles for Custom Rodder & Restored Cars.
Two of his books are The History of Holden Since 1917 & 100 Years of GM in Australia. Both good reads.

It will be available at all the proper motoring bookshops, like Auto Book World (Sydney), Wheels Bookshop (Parramatta) & Pitstop (Perth) to name a few. But also places like Angus & Robinson, Dymocks & Borders Books. Just about anywhere that sell books I would say.
I can sell them direct when I get my supply.

Not sure about a discount, I have to find out what margins there are in them. I can give a free autograph though. In all seriousness, the proper automotive bookshops out there such as the few Ive listed give great service, give them a go. I buy from all of them, but the guy in Perth (Pitstop) is my favourite. I can look him up on the internet & phone him at 2 or 3 pm, which is around lunchtime in Sydney & the books are on my doorstep in an air satchel, at 8.30 am the next day. Hes on the other side of the country, but can provide a quicker delivery service than a shop just a few suburbs away. Dr Terry |
