Hi Peter.

The people at Top Gear) (Trax) will get them at the same time as the other bookshops. They do offer a very good service so place your order now.

Hello HTMNRO,

Im told that Norm Darwin produced a special Monaro book after the 2008 Monaro Nationals. Do you know if this is available for purchase?

All,

Has anyone seen or have a copy of the book mentioned above? Maybe this is the book talked about?

Ben Stewart.

Hi Ben,
No, Norm didnt produce a 2008 Nats book, a guy named Andrew Thomas did.
It is a fantastic coffee table style book, with mostly amazing colour photos and little text.
The photography is truly spectacular and well worth a look. He produces them to order for $200 for a standard version, or $225 with a story on your car, or $250 including your car on the cover. Not cheap, but it is very high quality stuff. (Not just the content!)
Andrew can be contacted on 0353326628. I dont have any web/email details for him, sorry.
Regards, Andy

This will make 6 specific Monaro books being written, spotlight 1 and 2, Monaro story, rebirth of a legend and these two. Hopefully someone will do one on all Toranas. Then there is the Commodore King.

The more books the better, great way to share info.

Hi Warren, What about THE Monaro book written by Ben Stewart and yourself? That takes your total to 7. I cannot agree with your end comment on the fact that more books are a great way to share info. I was seriously mislead by some of the rubbish in the books in your list whilst trying to get correct information on my car so that I could redo it properly. Its a pity some people put loads of bull into a book and expect others to buy it. Terry Bebbingtons books are fabulous but dont delve deep enough into the specifics of cars like the HQ GTS 350 manual as there isnt space. The Monaro Facts & Story book has been the best by a country mile on these cars and if it had pictures to match the words then it would have been the best of all time in my opinion. The fact that I could talk with the author on various aspects of my rebuild was the icing on the cake for me. I wonder how far these new books will go in terms of keeping a good thing going or stooping to the lows of old like the recent Monaro magazine did?

Yes I did include ours, Monaro story, second along. It would have been nice to put pictures in, but we could could only get pictures for cars like the 327/350. When it came to some of the other models, it was impossible. As we decided all or nothing, we went for nothing.

I guess that is why Terrys books are so good, it has ALL cars in it not just the popular ones.

I guess the big thing for me is that they should have info evenly spread for each vehicle, which does not normally happen in multiple vehicle books/magazines. Concentrate on one or two models and then lip service to the others.
