have read a few comments about the rochester quadajet being better on 327,s than say holley carbs but then some nicelooking polished off the shelf holley set ups also avaialble
so for a 327 / fuellie heads and a little bit warm in general with turbo 350 auto in a hk , some thoughts from guys who are experienced with 327,s and there carby / combo choice
am after some good street drivability / cruising

I ran a Quaddie off a WB on basically the same combo (but in an MQ Patrol with TH400). It was really good. It was a 307 + 0.060 (about 317ci) Only problem was it was a cast iron original HK manifold so it needed a carb spacer to seal the original EGR crossover under the carb, but with an alloy manifold tht problem wouldnt exist.

yes all the early manifolds MUST require the big thick cardboard gasket if you dont have a spacer when you run the quaddie.
go for the Quaddie, or Edelbrock carb if you after street looks, its basically the same..

I still have an early Quadrajet sitting on top of a reasonable 327 fuellie headed small block after 23 years. It is in an EH & only recently I replaced the TH350 with a TH700 as it broke. Diff gears are 3.5:1. From my experience with this combo, I reckon that it is a terrific carby for that drivability/performance/economy balance that we all want. I am not sure about comparing them to any after market carby. If you do travel the path of a Quadrajet, either study them well & understand them, or find someone that has a great depth of knowledge/experience with them & pay them. They are a fiddly carby compared to some, but once setup to suit your application, they are quite good. Economy on a trip was around 15mpg. Now with the TH700, around 21mpg due to overdriven fourth gear. Remember, a good looking, polished carby, only looks good when you are stopped with the bonnet up. My view is that practicality comes before beauty. Utility8 Edited by user Wednesday, 9 September 2009 7:06:47 PM(UTC)

#3866922 inlet manifold is for a Early-Mid 60s 4GC Carby and is no good for Quadrajet . You need a 3919803 or from a HK 327 or 68 Impala , that way you can run a proper 7028212 Auto Carby and use the original baffle/shim and manifold choke system . People carry on about them , but if all is in good condition they are great . I have been selling all this stuff for years and have many happy people . People run into trouble with that "quaddies are all the same mentality) but if all is matched right you will have trouble free motoring . cheers James www.monaromuscleparts.comEdited by user Saturday, 12 September 2009 5:58:16 AM(UTC)

no problem with aftermarket manifolds. a good inlet to run with a stg 3 cam (2500rpm - 5500rpm) is the "Edelbrock Performer RPM - QJET" the next one up from the edelbrock performer, but designed specifically for the Rochester Q-Jet. Its normally a special order at most speed shops. most other Stg 3 inlet manifolds are square bore, which means an adapter to go to spead bore, and a hole cut into the bonnet.
