is the only differance in the HZ rts suspension the chassis or were the control arms and steering knuckles different too?

reason i ask is the control arms in my HQ ambo are badly worn around the sway bar link hole (hole all chewed out due to worn rubbers) and i have a set of control arms off a hz with rts in the shed in perfect condition i would rather use, but unsure if there different

Chassis. Started in mid HX. Control arms are the same. So are stubs, except tonner which are heat treated.

Is there any definite way to identify the Heat treated Tonna stubs? Do they have a different casting or part number?

Different part number, but only from sometime after HQ tonner release (and also different for drum or disc front end). When they are out you can see the difference once clean. Blue/purple metal where the inner bearing sits. Same also as L34 and A9X.

thanks byron, i noticed some minor differances but no major ones, minor things were the shocker holes are a different shape (bigger hole) in the rts arms and there is a groove running down the arm from the rubber bush towards the balljoint, in the rts arm it goes for about 100mm the HQ arm about 200mm, neither of these things affect the shape or size of the arm and i was just checking if i was missing something

the tonner stub axle is a interesting thing, do you know what material the arms are cast in? or what heat treatment they recived? this is the kind of thing i do for a living (make castings and heat treating) they seem to me they are cast in steel

Bigger shock hole is good, allows you to fit better shocks. I think this was a running change anyway. I have no idea about the stubs, apart from what they are.

And 9932966 for front drum brake tonner stubs. Note these (and those above) are only listed for later HQ onwards. Early HQs dont list different stubs for tonners.
