Can any of the experts recommend the best fluid to use? I know that Dexron III is the standard for these autos, but I have used ATF4000 in the past which worked fine.

Also I have seen suction pumps that go down the dipstick/filler hole that can get most of the old fluid out, has anyone had any experience with these?

Thanks guys
Rhys

I changed my Cross8 from DexronIII to (I think its called) Valvoline Maxlife, Synthetic. Supposed to make the transmission run cooler when towing.

I use Castrol Tyoe F in my TH400 and the powerglide in the race car.
I costs the same as Dextron but has a different co-efficient of friction and so makes the shifts firmer. If you just want soft shifts then Dextron 2 or 3 is OK.
Tranzmax Z is a synthetic that is supposed to be very good, but its more expensive.

Thanks for the replies guys. Might just stick to the old Dexron III as suggested as its not a race car and not going to be doing much towing. That should keep her going!
