Guys
Looking at maybe replacing the Cross8. Combination of many factors like its now 4 years old, 50% Govt investment allowance, REALLY good deals on 4x4's to ABN holders right now, and a mate willing to buy the Cross8.
Been looking at maybe a Colarado 3.0TD LT/R dual cab 4x4. Only problem is it has lots of poofy stuff on it I don't want like side steps, "sports" bar, painted wheelarches etc. Still pretty cheap. Isuzu do sell what they call an LS-M which is the same spec as their LS-U (almost the same as a Holden LT/R), but without the frills. Not much price difference though so maybe the LT/R with poofy stuff removed might be the go if a Colarodo/Dmax is chosen.
Also been checking out a Navara D40 STX. A tiny bit dearer but a much better and bigegr truck. Smaller engine but heaps more torque.
Anyone know any good or bad stories about Isuzu/Holden or Nissan products?
Note that the best price is a Colarado LX 4x4 TD dual cab in white for $34,800 approx drive away. STX Navara is about $46,000 drive away, LT/R Holden is about $2,000 less. RX Navara is not worth getting as you cannot get central locking or cruise fitted.

I know a few people with diesel Navaras (current model), and they all rave about how good they are - except for the seats on long trips.
Cheers,

Just read a few road tests, Colorado gets bagged for on-road, but praised for off-road. Navara seems to be the winner so far. Still not sold on a 2.5L turbo diesel yet.

A mate has a 3lt diesel dual cab Navara, I think an 05 model. He bought it with 40,000km and has now clocked up 250,000 and it spends all day off road on a farm. The only thing replaced so far has been the a/c compressor and belt tensioner. It has great torque and pulls like a trojan, it shows no signs of slowing down and has only recently started puffing a bit of blue smoke on start-up. |

Byron I purchased a 2007 SR5 Hilux dual cab about 6 months ago and love it. I looked at everything on the market but could not go past the Hilux. I know its not a patriotic choice but figure I have that covered with the XW8. The cheapest price I found on a new SR5 Hilux dual cab was 49K(on road) at Nowra Toyota.

Weve got the Navara STRs at work. Im personally not a huge fan. The cab seems really small and the dash is really high which makes it feel kinda claustrophobic. Ours havent done many kms yet so not sure on issues.

STRs are a very different vehicle to an ST-X. Matt, will look at a Hilux. Im even considering a new Patrol but then getting an LS2/LS3 conversion after a few years on the diesel.

This is off topic pub material - just because you mention a Holden somewhere in the copy does not make it applicable to what this subforum is about or subsequently is of interest to Holden discussion. You cant just whack on about unrelated items and try to make it legitimate by throwing in an oblique reference to GMH or that you were thinking about an LS2 last time you got a blowjob (if you can remember back that far)

Just updated my silver Hilux SR5 twin cab to a newie to take advantage of Ruddies little handout. Grey, auto, bar, arb canopy, winch. Cannot buy a better vehicle in that class and size of 4WD. Goes like #hit off a shangeye, comfort, all mod cons, bullet proof auto, cruise. The older models have heaps of trouble with injectors at 30000K, the newies have diamond point injectors. Resale values stay high. Expensive compared to Nissan but a lot of mates have changed from Nissan to Hilux

Also I should add beware of buying pre 08 models with the dickie injectors, as Toyota service dealers will try to bull#hit you past the warranty date by not admitting there is a problem with them. Its and easy fix by fitting diamond point ones but getting them to do it is another thing. They will not replace all 4 just the one that is shot at a time which means eventually going back 4 times. They also will not put in the diamond point just the standard injectors again, I have a mate thats been back 8 times. It starts as a rattle or knock that sounds like the engines got a leg out of bed only when cold of a morning, then progresses to a permanent rattle after a while. So if you buy second hand pre 08 pay attention to the engine noise as it could cost you

NO its not Holden related at all, you are just another power hungry little megalomaniac reminiscent of Orwells 1984
Power hungry? Little? What a load of rubbish. You obviously do not know me whatsoever, nor do I care to enlighten you. Youve had your chance many times over, and I think most will agree enough is enough. You cannot attack/insult other members, call their mothers all sorts of dreadful names and then carry on like a spoilt child when you are pulled into line. As if your opinions hold any weight, you sir behave like a fool. And if you wish to chuck insults at me, be a man and use your own name, not an anonymous keyboard warrior cream puff alias. Goodbye. _______________________________________________________ If we all had the same (good) taste, who would buy all the Fords? |

Most if not all of the "Jap" trucks are built in Thailand now anyway. The Ranger, Hilux, Triton and I think Colorado are anyway. Our Work Hilux has the "cold rattle" like a big end as it only happens when driving under no load ie when not accelerating or decelerating. Otherwise its a brilliant vehicle to drive. We removed the side steps the week we got it. The purely on road tyres will go once they are worn out. If you are looking at the Hilux push its panels they are paper thin and VERY easily dented even on a Toyota scale of things. And the dipstick is worse than an early Jackaroo dipstick was for telling you nothing about the oil level.
If at first you dont succeed then skydiving is not for you. |

Why not look at a Triton? It just won 4x4 ute of the year. Has the best room in the back seat by far, decent engine, 5 year warranty and if you are serious about going 4WDing it has a factory optional diff lock. Or value for money look at the Isuzu D Max.

One of the guys who works for me has one. Triton is way too ugly for me though. The only thing ugly about cars I drive should be me! _______________________________________________________ If we all had the same (good) taste, who would buy all the Fords? |
