Might have the opertunity to purchase an old HK monaro and was wondering what is a good price to pay.
Its ermine white base model but looks like it was floor shift.
no guards or bonnet with prem subframe. no engine seats or interior. has rusty doors and no glass and has no rear quarter glass mechanisms.
No rust in floor or roof or gutters none around the windows. rear quarters have been flarred. has boot with the shorts alloy garnishes but no stailess trim on any of the car.

I figured between $2000-4000? as it needs alot of work and parts

Havent you learnt anything from that guy that gives sermons at church?...Captain whats his name.

ask yourself if you really, really want one that bad to do all the work to it to get it up to a decent thing first. in my opinion, you are only giving some people such as beaters, painters and trimmers a job, and you might as well just throw bundles of hundred dollar bills at them and run, its less grief doing that and not as much stress in the long run, believe me.
nick morans mate just sold one for sweet F.A. thats was just a hop in, turn key and drive and enjoy deal, which proves they are not worth bugger all anyways(no disrespect to nick, his mate, or that car)so just in todays world, it pays to buy smarter unless you are a major glutten for punishment..steer clear bundybluedog, or buy it for a song, chop it up, and put the money aside for a mock up HO, better value and more fun in the long run!!

If its cheap, grab it and put it aside if you have the storage. Biggest repair problem you face is flared quarters, but all the stainless, glass etc will cost a motza. I have a big job ahead of me on a HK in similar condition, but its a very significant Warwick Yellow 1837 so worth it, and I have 3 or 4 donor cars for bits. I agree with others though, bite the bullet and buy a good car already done, keep the shell just in case you find a rusty 327 one day and need roof, quarters etc for it.

the question is whats a hk monaro worth its a base model hk its worth jack as in resale so ask yourself what you want the car for yourself or resale if its for resale dont waste your time because thats all its worth (jack)but if you like monaros every cent you spend on it is worth it when your cruizin it & it dosent matter if its a bathurst or a base model.problem with people these days they dont fix up cars for the car but for the money what a sad world it has become

For once i have to agree with you Fortch, even though i do make a living out of it and am far from the cheapest bloke in town.
But I do remember the days where you had all the parts at home or you found them at swap meets .
There was no monopoly on parts of prices , and it was exciting. You would have your mates help out etc..
That is mostly gone today and its all about ego, money, selfishness and status rather than pure fun which i agree is sad .

OMG,ffs jimmy, you are one of the people that has destroyed it for everyone concerned by taking the fun by making every donut with even a dungpile, chase bits that no longer even exist or are totally unnecessary for their cars, thry they think its "rare" and it becomes a "titt for tatt" bitch fight of who has got the better HK..
not much fun in that i reckon

matthew,
if you read my comments again, this time properly and even better if you read them before puttin down 6-7 long necks, you will see that i was thinking and stating along the same lines, and that was to get it and cut it up and sell the 40yr old fatigued metal to someone like yourself..who will put it to good use..it aint worth $3k, but thats what you may certainly get or maybe not get for it..

As with anything that has the word "value" attached, it is a personal decision as to what you think it is worth to you. As far as an HK Monaro goes, come Christmas this year you will be able to buy a brand new bodyshell with all hang-on panels for around $20,000. Again, if you feel this is good value then go for it.

We differ in opinions we wreck, no need to get personal. I havent touched a King Brown in years. I was only joking.

Your a Ford man, Im a Holden man. We are never destined to get alone on a Holden/Ford website. :)

In my opinion $3,000 would of been a good buy IF you were chopping it. If you were restoring it, maybe not. Spend $15,000 on a neat GTS.

I dont mind a bit of bark and bite. Like you say mate, you cant take life too serious. If you did you would of been one of the scaredy cats who sold everything because of the FINANCIAL CRISISSSSSSS

Personally I couldnt care what the HK coupe is/was worth. I brought mine as its been my favorite car since I was a pillow humper. I have always loved them and I searched for years to get one.

Even if they hit rock bottom money wise the fact of the matter is - not everyone has one.

P.S I again have to disagree with you. Never been a fan of Beyonce. Im more a Halle Berry type.
