All I can offer is the following:

1) The comment from the president of the Monaro club Sydney is actually correct, officially Papaya was not available on the HX GTS sedan. But like all things, Holden does make some cars in one off colours. I have seen a VZ Monaro in Kapow and another in Ignition, both VE colours. So if the potential buyer of one of these cars contact a Monaro club their response would be the same, Kapow and Ignition were not available on VZ Monaro. You cannot honestly expect Monaro club presidents, or others, to know of EVERY possible one off that Holden made.

2) I doubt the car on the turn table is the car in question, as the car in question is from Brisbane, would make more sence to order from Dandenong. The car in question is also a late HX, BHX chassis number) so would not likely be a styling exercise car.

3) Number built, well someone else has one in Adelaide, plus I was involved in one a few years ago, but cannot confirm if this is the same one. The one I knew of was painted white, with the new owner thinking of restoring it to papaya.

If I remember correctly, we went through the same discussion on this forum a while ago. The car is very nice, being restored to its former glory.

Will hopefully be at the Monaro nationals.

Warren

Very true Warren and Dr Terry, I have first option on a Monaro in Adelaide that was owned by a GMH worker that died in the 80s and left it to his daughter in his will. Unfortunately the daughter who is not into cars will not part with the car until her mother passes away because it was her husbands pride and joy.
The only info the daughter can give me is that the car is cream in colour it has two doors and a V8 and is a Monaro. She tells me that when the car went through the production line they added every conceivable option to this car for her father. He only took it out for a drive on weekends and going by the daughters info has less than 5000 miles on the clock.
Im dying to have a look at the car to see what model and options ect are on it, but dont want to upset the family by poking my nose in the shed..So I have to just wait it out.

But what ever it turns out to be, it will definitely be a one of!

Just went for a drive down the Gold Coast, and a white commodore pulled up beside me and it had the Monaro bonnet and wheels, so I looked back to see if he also had the tail lights, like so many VT/VX Commodores.

Not only did the have the lights he had the whole damd 1/4 panel, yes folks it was a white CV8. Now just remember they never made them.

I tried everywhere to find a white CV8 when I was looking for one as I heard rumours of a couple sneaking out. Settled for silver in the end. Sounds like you might have found one Warren.
