Im chasing some info on cutting a 300mm hole in a Lx torana bonnet under a a9x scoop. It would be cut in the centre and the flat centre brace removed. The queensland transport website states: any hole in a bonnet must not substantiallt reduce the strength or inpact resistance of the bonnet.

If you remove the whole centre brace, and you had a REALLY clued up copper inspect your car, you could hit trouble maybe. Or else just cut where the filter needs to go and weld up the joins, mnimising metal removal.
Or you could argue that a properly affixed scoop adds rigidity. |

The problem I have is that the car is unregisted and being painted at the moment and the guy where i was going to get a roadworthy said go on what queensland transport states on the website. I didnt want to have it all done and resprayed only to have to fit some more bracing.
Cheers craig

there will be someone around who will do a no-questions-asked roadworthy for the right price, if you are dead keen for cutting the hole. or buy a bonnet off ebay, can get HZ ones for around $100, put that on for your roadworthy then put your cut one on once you get it..
