I like it. Really is a tribute. Colour, letterbox grille, reverse scoop and the wheels. Dont remember any VKs with blowers, but i think we can forgive that. Haha.

I dont love it, but its certainly miles ahead in appearance of anything I have seen from HSV in many years. My only concern is there is only a limited amount of original HDT cars to "retro". By my count there is only two well known examples left to retro, the VL Group A SS and the VK GroupIII. Theyve already done the VC, VH SS and now the VK Group A. Theyll have to come up with something original shortly as there is probably no point in trying to draw upon relatively obscure HDT originals.

I LOVE it. Ive been looking at getting a new VE senator, to replace my VT Senator. But they just dont look correct.

I like the white VE, HDT VH. But do also like the VK VE. How do you go about ordering a HDT? Do you have to go buy a stock VE and take it to HDT somewhere and then they enhance it? Or can you buy a complete car from HDT? I did read somewhere too. that holden will void the warranty on the engine if HDT do any mods to it? Is this true? Do HDT cover the complete engine than?

Any idea on $$ to get one of the "blue meanies"? I am looking at 80-90k for a VE senator.

Cheers
Jason

Word is the $$ start at around $75K for the base package (naturally aspirated 350kw engine), and up to $120K if you tick all the boxes, including the 7L supercharged 500kw engine - these prices include the purchase price of the base car.

You need to buy a black VE SS or SS-V, and hand it over to HDT to do the work, or they should be able to organise the complete car for you - it will just mean a bit of additional paperwork at your end for authorisations.

Cheers,

Mick

Thankyou for that Mick. Defently worth looking into a little more! The HSVs are realy overdone. Can you choose the colour? Or do they only do the same colour each model? VK=Blue. etc?

All this i guess i will just have to talk to hdt =)

Cheers
Jason

I like it but they should make left and right wheels for it as per the original versions of those wheels.

Otherwise very nice indeed.

www.hdt.com.au I beleive there are a couple of HDT specific dealerships, I work for Holden dealer and have owner of VH retro as a customer, any issue with non Holden components (havent had any real ones yet) HDT are commited to resolving at no cost or hassle to owner or servicing dealer, from my experience they are a great bunch of guys and you might find the cars a bit more affordable than youd expect.

Just on the warranty front - somewhat related. Peter Champion (HDTs owner) told us of the owner of a Retro, who managed to (accidentally) drive it into a flooded creek, and hydraulicd the engine.
The insurance company paid for a brand new (stock) Holden engine. They wouldnt cough up for the cam & other work HDT had done, but HDT looked after her to keep the goodwill happening.

Last I heard they were up to half-dozen Blueys sold - 3 of those were sold at Bathurst on the 1000 weekend.

Cheers,

Mick
