I have a powerglide from a hk or that era and was going to have a go at rebuilding my self. I have never rebuilt a car auto but rebuilt earthmoving equipment auto gearboxs and plenty of hydraulics so figure if i follow a manual should have no dramas. anyways my question is can i use v8 internals(clurtch packs) and use a v8 trimatic input sharf and bell housing on it.

Havent you learnt anything from that guy that gives sermons at church?...Captain whats his name.

6cyl powerglide and 253/308 powerglide are the same basic box, just the V8 has a different pump, bellhousing and converter - very much the same principle as a trimatic. So in my opinion youd be better off chasing a 253/308 HT/HG box and rebuilding it, using any parts off the 6cyl that you require.
