Not many paint type products will hold up to the heat. HPC or Jethot ceramic style coatings are probably the only effective coatings currently around.

If I may make a suggestion, based on my use of a Locite product not specifically used as a paint, but rather a coating, this would be ideal for extractors. Be warned though its not cheap. Ive used this as a coating inside plastics blow-moulding dies.

The VHT range of EXHAUST heat proof paint works well if applied correctly. By this I mean it should be sprayed on and then taken to a powdercoaters who will "bake" it in their oven, let it cool, bake it again, let it cool with one final baking. Each time it is baked the temp is increased.

When sprayed on, let dry and installed straight on an engine and run, the exhaust temp is far to high to "cure" correctly.

Cheers

So-called flame and heat proof paints are average at best. The more care you take with prep and correct painting technique, the better your chances. Regardless though, its generally going to peel in not too long. HPC coating is a performance benefit as well as looks. Powder-coating may hold up quite well too.
