Very sad news for the Australian manufacturing sector,

if you consider payroll tax,workers comp,holiday pay+17.5% loading,sick pay,and some of your staff not pulling their weight.its amazing they didnt close years ago.

if you consider the highly paid executives, the huge quarterly bonuses, uncontrolled leave absences, corporate jets, free lunches...no wonder companies are going broke

well, maybe we should become a china then, yeah, thats right, dump all our entitlements, take our safety boots off us, work us from 7-7 and feed us some rice and we be right...but dont whinge when you cant afford to buy that HK Monaro when that happens

Bridgestone is Japanese owned that is why it was shut down.they already have one over there,would you have all your cars in someone Elses garage?
im not defending it ,im just saying whenever the big companys make decisions its always about what is financially best ,if you owned a business youd e do the same.

I agree with you but a case in point recently.

ACL Bearing Co in Launceston went broke several months ago. The Federal Government gave ACL $5 million towards a $21.7 million, 17-point restructuring plan, which was aimed at securing the companys future.

Guess where the money went, NOT to the workers who were destined to be made redundant BUT the pockets of the managers. Pity these underworked overpaid managers!
