Hi there
Cant get rid of the smell of fuel from the G.
Checked all lines for leaks, found the breather tube and blocked it off (temporarily).
Seal on the sender unit seems sound and seated correctly.
Looked around and under the tank - can't see any liguid anywhere.
Any thoughts??

i had a bad fuel smell in my van also. i changed all the hoses. in the end i replaced the hose from the filler neck to the tank. as i found out it was leaking. in my old LJ Torana. i opened the boot and watched inside with putting fuel in to find at leak in the filler neck.

Check when running. Fuel seeping out on or around the motor will evaporate extremely quickly, youd have to catch it as it happens or look for the sticky residue where it mixes with dirt and oil. |

The smells more around the boot, and the car has only runs for minutes at a time for the last 5 years.
I havent checked around the breather on the filler. Ill do that next thanks.
The locable CPC fuel cap seems to be lose (ie when its closed I can push it in 4-5mm) Is that normal? Its brand new. Im assuming its supposed to be like that.
Ill keep checking.
What about a seem on the tank or something??

Check around the breather lines on the tank. Old rubber breathers can perish. I know on my tank on of the pipes, which i guess are brazed on, actually cracked around the base where it entered the tank. |

The lockable caps are spring loaded to keep pressure on the seal, by pushing it in you are just depressing the spring.

does it smell when driving ? check the boot seal i had trouble for ages then a mate said get a new seal and its all good now
