Hey All,
Need some help?
I have upgraded my alternator from a 50 amp to a BXU1285A.
The part at the back seems to missing when I look at the diagram and connect to the D+ terminal?
Does anyone know what this is or have a part number?
Do you need it?

It should be a standard Bosch internal regulator style alternator.
Can you post a picture of what you are talking about.

Nothing goes to "D+" on these alternators.
There are 3 wires to attach: 1. Charge wire to B+ 2. Voltage sense - runs from the battery to one of the wires on the regulator plug (looks like an injector plug). 3. Indicator light - runs from the other wire in that ^^ plug

I am missing the part"black box with one wire going out" above the d-and with one wire that looks like it going down to the d+.

The little black box with one wire is a noise suppressor. Its actually going to the + terminal.
The casings are made to suit many applications. This particular one doesnt have a D+ output, but other models using the same case may do.

It will only affect your radio - it will have a whine consistent with engine RPM.

if your original alternator was a lower power one make sure you protect your ampmeter if you have one. i burned out the one on my HQ gts dash whan I upgraded to a 90 amp alternator, the original one was about 60 amps I think. dont ask me how to protect it I dont know.

You just bypass the ammeter by putting a wire across the back of it or running a new charge wire from the alternator to the battery (better solution).
If you leave the old charge wire intact and connected the ammeter will no longer be accurate but it will lean towards charge or discharge so it will still be of some use.
If at first you dont succeed then skydiving is not for you. |
