in qld they drive anything now, seen a silver bf gt ss commodore ute wrx xr5 foucs, we now have speed cameras in red light cameras so if you boot it to beat the red your stuffed, it,s not about raod saftey it,s revenue raising. if you want to lower the road toll put more marked cars on the road stops every offence but this will cost the goverenment money not make them money.
you cant even go to court and challenge a speed camera ticket now.
if you want to challenge the camera accuracy or anything in the photo you have to give prior notice so the can bring there experts, you lose you pay there is not justice in qld unless your rich.

Cameras fine cars, not drivers. If you get a camera fine it is issued to the owner of the vehicle. They have no interest in who pays the fine, or who is nominated, as long as the fine is paid.

Cops fine drivers. The fine is issued to the driver and the driver has to pay and lose points and go to court etc.

Fight back.
I flash my lights every time I see a mobile Greed SCAMera.

Get on the 2 way. I ring/text customers and staff if I see one near work.

You almost alaways get a wave from professional driver-truckies,
cabbies, etc. Rarely from a camry steerer.

I also put out "RADAR AHEAD" signs out upstream of the SCAMera. Look out for them Nth side Brisbane- the licence I save could be yours.

premier350, you might get in a bit of strife if you get caught with those signs i think, apparently its illegal to even flash your lights to warn someone of a cop up ahead etc.

Im with you Premier350, in Victoria there is a around 3% tolerance by the police, yet they allow 10% tolerance in speedos by manufactures. Give them a Flash i say!

The problem n Victoria is no one has challenged the law itself. My father callibrated Police spedos in the pre radar days, he can tell you that 3% tollerance is unrealistic.

If you look through other legislation you will find tollerances that are used, some are 5% and others 10%.

So you could site these as legislated tolerances.

In my job the electrical supply authority has to supply within 5% and meters must be calibrated to hold 5 - 10% depending on application.

So if an instrument to read legislated values has a tolerance of 5 - 10% then the speedo can not be expected to be more accurate, considering I have to have mine callibrated every 6 months - 5 years, once again depending on application.

you just have to make sure you are changing lanes while you flash - its too easy to pull the indicator arm while pushing it up or down to indicate... unless of course you are in an old girl in which case you better get pretty creative with your excuse!
Flashing the high beam used to be allowed only to warn of impending danger further up the street.

I think Im safe in putting my signs out. After all most commerical
radio stations tell listners where the speed SCAMeras are.

Also, from the Qld police traffic manual, prosections for warning other motorists are to be refered to the Assistant Commishioner (sorry about the spelling!) for Traffic.

Strikes me as a lot of paperwork for the average copper.

you used to be able to get off saying it was your duty as a citizen to slow other speeding motorist down.
you still may be able to use it.

Paperwork is a good point. I got off a neg driving charge when i hit my mate because it was a highway cop and apparently they couldnt be bothered, as the tow truck driver told me, but a city cop would have done me.

I think the best thing ive ever seen with speed cameras, other than the legend who was burning them down here on the northern beaches, was Top Gear in Japan. They stood buy the roadside with a picturesque backdrop, in front of the speed camera, waving. As Clarkson said "all we need is one person to speed and weve got the BEST shot" ....shame nobody did.

Good on you, Premier 350.
Its a pity theres not more people around like you to fight those revenue raisin assholes. I still flash my lights.

Beware of the xmas blitz starting soon. I hope everyone makes it into next year with licences intact.

Love it! I might get prosecuted for putting out " RADAR AHEAD " signs
but " SLOW DOWN " That would be untouchable, after all the guMINT is telling us that all the time.

Back on topic, I have seen an unmarked blue Lancer cop car twice of late. Once on the Bruce Hwy, and only last weekend on the Mt Glorious
road.

I wonder where Roland Dane keeps his key & phone? After all, his pockets are full of officals.
