Hi Guys, this may have been asked before but I cant find it?
I have a V8 VN diff I am narrowing to fit an EK but using short axles on both sides, HOWEVER I want to run Chev stud pattern. can the VN axles be re-drilled safely or should I just get new axles made up for the application? IF new axles are the go, should I get them made in billet? car is running SBC and T700 Matt

It is illegal to redrill axles. Billet is your best choice, and with the SBC you will have confidence in the axles as they were a weak point in the BW diff. If it is old or rare - Cut it! http://www.ehlimo.com.au/ |

Yes they are close, but not the same. It is not a good idea to shove a Chev 120.65mm PCD on a Commodore 120mm PCD. If it is old or rare - Cut it! http://www.ehlimo.com.au/ |

That PCD question is probably the most asked question in wheel-related history! Haha. Many people put Chev pattern wheels on commodore PCD, or vice versa. We call these people, idiots, or accidents waiting to happen.
And now someone will come along and say "ive had that setup for years with no problem".
Wheelnuts/studs take the load, they wont be happy if theyre under stress just from being done up. |

HQforme, youre right, asked many times, and the answer is always the same. Cutting corners, doing it cheap, this should work, been doing it for years, a mate reckons, cant you just do this?, whats wrong with doing it this way?, thats too hard/costly. Do things correctly for the safest & best result. Its not rocket science. Utility8 |

Cars have been getting bogged up with an inch thickness of body filler for years and no problems! Or do they? Would you accept that on your car? How many cracked and rusted bogged panels have you seen? Lasts a while, sometimes many years, but not always. If it is old or rare - Cut it! http://www.ehlimo.com.au/ |
