I reckon its somethin you dont see often these days a base model HQ coupe... Be careful about reading health books. You may die of a misprint. [email protected]http://gallery.oldholden.com/69HT_MUNRO/ |

HQ coupes are rare to start with, 13000 over 4 years. They sold over 9000 4 cylinder TA Toranas in 12 months.
With all cars, the lower the luxury level the more likely to have options, so a non option Monaro is rare, but yours might have other options, such as disc brakes, 6" rims etc.
No options at all would be unusual. Rare, well to over used as a term to describe Holdens.
Hope this helps
Warren

Warrens right , I had a guitar stolen once, found it a cash converters ,asked why it was priced so HIGH and was told it was RARE,to which I reply its mine!,cops involve, proof of ownership and I was gone.I went to sell it there about 2 yrs later as I didnt like playing it anyway and was told it was OLD AND NOT WORTH MUCH. funny that.So as Warren says rare is over used and also apparently VERY MISUNDERSTOOD. Rare and desirable are two different things. If it is old or rare - Cut it! http://www.ehlimo.com.au/ |

hardest car to buy is a HQ 81837, always has been, always will be, next is XA Foulcan, then LC-LJ coupe, then LX hatchbacks, everything else in GM and Ford is easy, just have to look outside the circle and be prepared to travel and ask
I innovate, never imitate..

just buy the car you like, the motor/box you like and paint it whatever color you like and youll have the car you like

Hardest to find?
rare?
Desirable?
I bet I could find more HQ 81837s than say HD X2 utes or 69 Brabham Toranas. But they are not as desirable, so not as many looking.
They made more 81837s than HJ P37s, and more of the 81837s would still exist than HJ P37s.
Any car over 30 years is now gong to be harder to find, at 20 years you cannot be too pickey. Back in the 80s you could find them, just like now you can find plenty of CV8 Rs, but in 20 years they will be harder to find.

Yes I think this is why Frank said hardest to buy as opposed to hardest to find.

As mentioned, rare perhaps but not necessarily desireable. Although even a plain base model these days would be good, cant be fussy!
Perfect example, guy next door has an original HQ coupe with 253 and column auto. Neat car but he reads about the Bathurst 350 models going for half a million and thinks he has the same thing and talks it up. Its just a car to him, not a Holden guy or even car guy, was the car of a close friend of his who passed away many years ago.
