3899621. Remember that the part number isnt marked anywhere on the bellhousing though.

I have a bellhousing with 3899621 cast into the starter side out of my 1970 corvette. Would this be the same part?

Odd. Normally the casting number is different to the part number, sometimes by only one digit. Id say its too much of a co-incidence in that case to not be the same thing.

Hi ,Well that would be a 1 in a 3899621 chance its the right one..lol, Simmo I think its the right bell housing ,unlikely that they would have 2 different bell-housings for the same eng/gearbox setup WITH coincidentally that number. But I agree with Byron very rare that the number would be cast into a part because usually they get the part number AFTER they are made but it could be a later run request or something like that...j.m.o!...jim

Most alloy parts have a casting number, just like cast iron parts. But the casting number is for HK Saginaw V8 bellhousings for example, 1 x digit different. The double sided bellhousings (ie knockouts on both sides for left and right hand clutch forks) have both casting numbers on them for the left and right fork versions, the right fork versions number is on the left side knockout and vice versa. I thought HT were the same but maybe not by your post.

Yes The "3899621" HT HG 350 Saginaw /HQ 350 Muncie Bell Housings have the numbers Cast into the side of them in the knock out piece, and the number matches the parts book .
Byron is right though with many of these parts where the casting number on the actual parts does not match the part number in the Spare parts catalogues ,or is quite often one number out.
Hope this helps
James

James

If you ever come across one of these that is the same as the HT/HG/HQ bellhousing but is the wrong number Im looking for one. I need an 11" example for my HK to suit the 427 and Muncie, but I have ne need to run an original 1837 example, just one that looks right.

You can now buy new repro "621" bell housings with all the numbers in the US for $189 . So you could just buy one of these at that price . The other one you have asked meabout is a 626... number from memory out of an early to mid 70s camaros etc...
Cheers James
