I hate rebuilding cars.Went to fit tailshaft to the HT and guess what the universals don,t fit. The trouble is the tailshaft ends that accept the universals are smaller than the gearbox and diff. i.e. the gap between the bearing surfaces on the tailshaft is 43.5 mm and the gearbox is 59.3mm. Did Holden make an of-set universal or are all universals the same dimensions all round. The gearbox is v8 M20. Have I got a 6 cylinder tailshaft. Do v8 and 6 cylinders use the same unis and tailshaft. I hate rebuilding cars.

Holden V8 & 6 cyl unis are of different dimensions from memory. Go to the bigger unis & have weld yokes in the tailshaft changed. For that matter, you may serve yourself well by having a V8 shaft reworked rather than using a 6 cyl shaft. Utility8 |

i love rebuilding cars, but there are times i shake my head and wonder why, lol
ok, there are V8 tail shafts and 6 cyl tail shafts, they are different, the yoke (the bit that goes into the gearbox) will slide into all gearboxes (except turbos) the V8s are thicker and use bigger unis than the 6s
in the later holdens (HQ-WB) the tonners had even bigger unis

try doing custom stuff with a muncie and a 9" with a HO yoke??? see how much fun that when ya go to fit unis to tha shaft that you just had made up by duggans or somewhere similar and ya got weld yoke that different..haha
