Hi all. Ive converted my brakes from hg to hq. Im using hq rotors and pbr cast iron calipers and have bought the set from a reputable company. The problem i have is when using a standard rim(6 inch), the outer part of the caliper hits the curved part of the inner rim. Is there a way to fix this problem as i dont want to shave anything off the rim or the caliper. Are there any spaces that i can use on the rotor? Thanks..

If you have used standard HQ rotors and calipers it sounds like you have Commodore rims. Use HQ-WB rims.

The rim is off a hg gts monaro. Im trying to keep it original, as when it comes to safety, i thought the upgrade would help.

I get you now. HQ discs with 4.25" PCD studs. If you replace the rotors with ones with 4.75" PCD youll be able to use HQ-WB 6" rims, but then obviously the rears will need addressing. Maybe go to a caravan/trailer place and measure new ROH 6" rims and see if they are a bit different in the problem area.

Hes using the standard HG 6" rims. The discs are from hoppers stoppers, basically HQ with HK-HG stud pattern and PCD to support the standard HG 6" rims. The caliper is now hitting the rim. The rear diff is standard with the standard hk-hk stud pattern.

I you want to use the HG rims, you will need to grind down the caliper housings.
I know it sounds a bit rough, but was very commonplace in the 1970s when many aftermarket alloy wheel wouldnt fully clear the calipers. The problem was more prevalent on Falcons, but they used very similar PBR cast-iron calipers.
