Lets just say a vehicle has Commodore rims up front and HQ Holden rims on the rear for rego can one have 2 of the narrow space saving tyres as spares.

I cant see why not, I dont think a spare tyre is compulsory for a roadie.

if a commodore has HQ rims on it, it is illegal and VERY dangerous, and if a HQ has commodore rims on it, it is also illegal and VERY dangerous

That is true Dave, but I was working on the theory he had different stud patterns like an HQ diff and Commodore front brakes.

Have fun trying to find a Space saver rim with HQ stud pattern, I had to make my own using a nissan 14" rim & a HQ standard center, I was lucky the nissan rim only cost $10 at a swap but to buy one off a wrecker they are not cheap, on average about $50 with a good tyre & you have to find the correct one as the actual centers in most of the jap cars are smaller, the Jag XJS of 90-92 are the same PCD but impossible to find... Would it not be simpler and cheaper to have a spare wheel with 10 holes in the two different stud patterns?
Standard Commodore rims can easily accept another 5 holes.
If at first you dont succeed then skydiving is not for you. |

Yeah proberbly, but its more fun/Satisfying making your own.. to me tho it seems odd to have two different stud patterns on one car, as it would be easy enough to re-drill a pair of axles & brakes to go commodore through out. would even be about the same cost wise as buying the odd set of wheels, then the spares ect. then you have to keep inmind re-sale, it may be a set back have a odd set up... Im not entirely sure that its legal however you can buy wheels which have 10 holes new but they are usually HQ and Ford stud pattern so I dont see why it would not be legal.
Any wheel manufacturer could do it and tell you whether its legal in your state.
The Wheel Factory in Fyshwick would be the place to go if you are in/near the ACT.
