hi sorry for the late reply. with christmas an all its been a bit hectic.

here is what i have done. replaced coil, removed cone filter from carby intake. replaced fuel filter, checked fuel delivery from pump.

all to no avail.

what i have found though is i cannot get the secondary butterfly valve to open, is it vacuum controlled because it looks manual to me but im no expert. even holding the accelerator linkage wide open i cannot get it to budge even with some prodding with a srewdriver.

could this be my issue as i have said the engine just dies at roughly half pedal. and if so how do i free it up

Ted,as I said before replace (dizzy and carby) with good ones and it will show you something.

thanks jim, i would have tried them but i dont have spare dizzy or carby for it so i am trying things i can do without trying to source them. you are right in what you say but i am leaning towards the carby but i am now screwed with the holiday season and no one open. bloody santa :-)

anyway i will keep you in the loop eventually
