Hi Just received a set of Speed Pro Pistons from the states ( H619CP)They have sent the pistons with floating pistons in lieu of pressed.
Dont know enough about these as I'm used to pistons.The 350 chev engine I have at this stage has rods that have pressed pistons , can I use these rods and if so do they just slide through the existing rods or does the pin still get pressed through the rod but the piston remains floating with the retainers on each side

Its up to you. If your pins are sort enough to allow you to fit the retainers, then you can.
Ive only had the prob once, and I left them out, as in my opinion its just another 16 peices of unneccesary metal in the engine that could possibly come astray.

Sorry Mick not sure what you mean about sort enough.Are you saying that the pins get pressed into the rods and you can either fit the clips or leave them out

I Think he means ,short enough and use the pins without the clips,honestly ,take the LOT to an engine builder its too serious a setup to get wrong.

Short enough:
From what Ive seen, playing with Holden 5L fitting stroker kits (so bits of chev & aftermarket as well) is that pressed-in pins for use without retainers normally come out too far, and cover the grooves in the piston that are used for the retainers - ie the pins are a little bit too long, hence you cant use the retainers, even if you wanted too.
If the pin is short enough to allow you access to those grooves on each side of the piston, to fit the retainers, then yes you can fit them.
However, the retainers are unneccesary if the pin is a press-fit into the rod, and its centred correctly, as the pin wont be able to extend out past the end of the pin bore like a full-floating (non-press fit) pin without a retainer could do.

Yeh Ill get an engine machine shop I know to put the pins in the pistons but I was mainly concered that I may now need to buy new rods
