Saw rusty's ute a 12 months ago & located a perfect candidate some 12 month's ago to mock-a up as a sandman.

Been collecting Gts gear for almost 5 years for 2 genuine sandman's so instead of chook raffling the bits on the net, the ute (after seeing Rusty's) was a must. Mind you another 12months has flown past without getting the Yellow Van any closer to being on the road.

The colour is somewhere between sandman panama & Kermit green.

Had it mixed then tweaked it a little at home before deciding on this colour.
Was trying for something close to a Ve Green, similar shade i reckon.

The base was Ford Citric Acid, that i just couldnt bring myself to using. It was the original colour of the ute.

Before & after shots

Havent updated anything for a while so here goes....

Been very busy last few weeks got the besty registered, Ill explain the exhaustive RWC dramas in another life time.....
Will bring all photos up too speed....

Bolted everything back on for roadworthy...

After some serious cutting & buffing & fiddling in the interiori had a registered ute.
Got the wheels all painted. new chrome nuts & found some centre caps lying around & threw the wheels on.

After more buffing pulled out the stripes & also fitted them.
These really transform the vehicle from a bog standard ute.
Very impressed with the ease they went on.

Front spoiler on also... Good shot of the newly painted factory coloured wheels. Banged some 8s on the rear & 6s up front.

Now had a dead line for a show down in Warrnambool Vic.
So finished spraying the rear tub & bolted all interior bits in & started polishing for its first & possibly last show & shine.
Will sell after its all completed.

A few happy snaps of the Green Hornet as its been nicknamed, in the show & shine. Very happy with the final transformation.
Lots of great feedback & plenty of interest seeing a Sandman ute, even if its only my Moka.

Jeezus, that was a bit fast wasnt it? Arent projects supposed to take a couple years before you even start it then several more before you get anywhere near close to finishing?

Looks bloody good. Ive got a WB Id like to give a similar treatment to. Might take more than a month though.

I dont like to muck around when it comes to a build.....!!

As for the time frame itd be close to 12months since i first bought the ute. March from memory.
Alot more body work then youd ever have dreamed, every Sunday for close too six months.

My trick is to collect everything new, getting upholstery done during the build, so expenses are kept to a minimum when all the big stuff needs to be paid for at the end.

Painted it the week leading up into the new year... then really pushed hard through January many late week nights too get everything right for RWC.
Then a final push cleaning fixing up interior, buffing applying decals, painting wheels etc.

G`day mate,

Nice job there! You can get 14 inch rim surrounds (the type with the rounded edges) pretty cheap from Autobarn...
They don`t look as good as the GTS ones (which cost a packet) but you`ll still be suprised by the difference it`ll make!
