Hi I am helping my nephew bring his new found love back to life. HQ308 van. He has asked for help finding the following stuff for the top tailgate door.
*Sliding/ locking rods and springs and all fasteners for this assy.
He has the handle but nothing else.
A few photos of the assembly would be appreciated as if I have to Ill have a go at fabricating.

Also, I am assuming that this hardware could be common for with earlier and later models ( possible interchangeability with modification?).
I am also thinking that Falcon/Valiant hardware from the ers may be very similar.
Is this correct?
Can anyone help?.

Please comment on the forum, PM me or call me on 041 761 5648.

Thanks
Nick Moran

I think HD through to WB have a lot in common. Again try Greg. Hell have all the bits.

The inner swivel lock /rods and inner retainer clips you can buy from rare spares Nick.
And all you need then is to get the special fine thread screws (with built in washers) to hold the inner lock on and the outer springs you will need to get which most wreckers would have .
Make sure the outer handle has the stainless escutcheon on it though. And on mine i put a door barrell gasket to help cushion it , works a treat .
That is all that is there to it , as i have just done the whole thing on my HT Panel Van .
All the repro parts fit perfect , and in fact the rods i bought from rares were still NOS as they were available at Holdens till a few years back . Hope this helps Nick .
cheers James

Hi James, Jim and Bryce
Nice to hear from you all. Ive ordered the bits from R.S.
I just noticed that this tailgate top has no rubber either. Can anyone recommend where to get good rubbers at a reasonable? (No wise cracks about Chemist shops!)...lol!

For your info his name is James too. The van is an auto 308 Lime Splice.....I love it. It is ratty at the moment. Obviously a survivor from an 80s makeover. He is in Sydney, I am in Yamba and its hard to be hands on with help. I go to Syd about six times a year and I take a bootload of bits away each trip, refurbishing them up here and returning them. He loves it when he sees a bit coming back ready to use. It keeps him really motivated. Ill get him to send me some pics and Ill post em up.

Thanks for your replies. Its what this site is all about!

Cheers
Nick Moran.
