Hi all. I might have to trim a little bit of chassis (the lip part) to get my new radiator to fit in the HG. Will this cause me grief when its time for pit inspection / rego? Has anyone done this?
If so, will reinforcing the chassis somewhere make it OK?

Thanks- Mick

Dont cut it!,get an approved engineers advice.Wouldnt it be better to get one that fitted properly and maybe offset the cost with the one youve got?...I am not being funny, just thinking and trying to help.

Many guys have done it, particularly earlier models, FE/FC/EJ/EH etc. I would guess the problem will come at rego time if you dont have the job done correctly to be signed off by the trusty engineer.

Bit of a side story. Fitted a 202 red block with a blue head & injection to an EH. Other mods include 4 wheel discs, dual circuit brake system, Trimatic yada, yada. Went to rego. the car at Vicroads. Gee sir, youre gunna need a VASS Approval Certificate, (engineers report), as you have increased the cubic capacity by more than 10%. Two inspections only, (no work as such), & $858.00 later, I got the cert & got rego. Needed to fit rear belts & tailshaft loop due to the "massive power increase".
I got caught out & it set me back about 2 weeks.

End result.
