Ja, people had side-exit pipes and lakes pipes confused.

As i knew, pipes used to have to exit a distance rearwards of the last opening window, as Dr Terry stated.

To run lakes pipes i daresay your standard ground clearance rules combine with the pipe exit rules. Youd think you could work a way around it, but knowing things are as they are, well, good luck!

This is where things become silly, because as with the photo of the White Z/28 Camaro above, the pipes would not be any lower than the factory front Air dam, or Spoiler. The only things I see as an RTA violation - are noise decibels, danger caused by heat, and emissions.

Have not heard of Lake pipes as been fake, with exhaust gases exiting elsewhere, True Lake pipes hook straight up to the Header pipes, some will be a four into one flange to give the look of the four exhaust ports from the head on any bank, into the Lake pipe, others will be a large diameter pipe on entry into the Lake pipe that has a reducing pipe and flange to mate up with the Header pipe. The Lake pipe is the Muffler if you like, although they are not very restrictive when it comes to muffled sound.
They do look great though on any modified vehicle.

True, but think of say, an HQ, where a lakes pipe would be below the line of any bodywork?

thats the problem, you would have to have them coming out the front gaurds and remove your sill panels to gain height to make them legal, but then i think something else would be not legal.not to mention f@#!king up your van beyond repair.(well near enough beyond)
