Which section of rust on an old Holden makes you feel truly Australian. When I see that rusty section below the passenger side window on hk,t,g monaros. That makes me feel Australian.I look at a rusty quarter panel on a chev and I just see rust. On a Holden I see national pride in that rust spot. What are your favourite Holden rust spots!

The top of the drivers door where the elbow has been resting while driving and worn the paint off.

....Bloody Hell Fellas.....I mean Fair Dinkum.....Old Holdens dont rust. They ripen and mature with age....might get a few small skin cancers but definitely no rust..... Heres a pic of my beautifully ripe and mature HG Kingswood from last year. Didnt look great but drove like new...lol!

When I bought it I thought it would never run but I brought along some tools,battery, fuel pump, fuel. Used the battery and the fuel......started after only pouring a little fuel down the carb!...Love those old red sixes!
If I remember correctly it was about a 70,000 mile, two owner, log book car. It was a dunger but honestly, it drove as well as my Munro!
Sold it to a guy in Brizzie who used all the running gear for an HK Van....One bites the dust and dodges the friggin crusher to resurrect another.

It has to be the rust that falls in your eyes when you fit the 9" hot dogs to your 4.2 WB ute.

For me itd have to be a couple:

Front doors off HQ-WB forward of the internal channel where no rustproofing gets;
HK-HG front guards;
FE-HG ute rear floors;
LX-UC 2 door around the hatch rubber, C pillar and in between the hatch hinges;
LH-UC between the bonnet hinge bolt holes.

Bredbo, ive never had a usable HK-HG coupe shell with rust in the quarters adjacent to the window. Admittedly ive had a few VERY rusty bodies but that part was good compared to the rest of the car ie rotted from the floor line downwards.

Hi All....
A friend of mine years ago now had a hg monaro ,the body was nearly perfect except for one really strange rust patch about 8 inches long straight underneath the drivers side rear window about 4 inches down?
never seen that before or since,rest of the car really clean.It has always baffled me as to why,there must be a reason?.

They had a felt or foam setup to stop the window from rattling or something like that which held water and caused plenty to rust there. Thats where non of my better bodies have ever had rust though!

gemini boot floors
fe-ek A pillar sections right where the sills meet them, always rotted out
late HQ, the rear 1/4, right above the wheel in the centre of the wheel arch and then up along adjacent to the rear door..

How about the bottom of HQ radiator support panels where previous owners have let the radiator turn into a sieve? Expect to pay top dollar for a twin headlight one that isnt rotted.

P.S No Australia day for me, call this a pre-waitangi day post
