I find it difficult to get a great deal of info on Broughams. Does anyone have links or the information itself on them?

Things like
How many were built
What plants did they spring from
what options were available with each model

Another puzzler (petty to most I reckon) for me is the brocade they used for the trim. Did it come from the US or was it being woven here in Aus? Its still available in the US so I'm guessing it was imported. Along with most of the running gear on the HKs at least.

Also the story goes that they were in such a hurry to pump out the HK that they manually welded the subframe extensions through the boot. Mine has the welding but was it done manually?

I know these old girls were never as popular as most holdens so I gather that's why the info is so thin on the ground.

Any info would be appreciated

I know a friend with a Brougham, and he mentioned the Brocade trim was $3000 from UK. I am not interested in in finding out any more info.

The brocade trim is available from SMS Auto Fabrics , ask for Chuck or Doug in Portland Oregon . I stayed with Chuck when i was there as my mate knows him and he said they reran the Brocade for the Aussie Market more so than the Cadillacs and Olds they were used in Originally . It was made by DuPont Originally .
Yes thats true a parralled floor pan section was added rather than a whole new lengthened boot pan be made .
The info you require is in sales catalogues and Parts books . As for production numbers etc.. that may be a tall order to find out .
Hope that helps

SMS is the place alright.

It is the same fabric as used in the 67? 68? Buick Electra. I just wasnt sure if it was also manufactured in Aus as well.

I ordered 5 yards from them before Christmas. Definately not $3000 though, its $95US a yard plus shipping.

Although, Im starting to get a bit worried about ever seeing it. I ordered and paid early December and Doug told me it was in stock and would be shipped straight away(Ive been told by Eastern that the only Brocade available is NOS and no more will be run as the run costs are too high and the market too small). I left it a few weeks and saw nothing so emailed them and was told shipping was slow due to Christmas. Still nothing so another email and this time Ive been told they are doing a run of the fabric and it isnt finished yet.
