CAPA, a well respected aftermarket "boost" supplier, are happy to pump 10psi through a stock VN-VT 5L, with little more than an upgraded fuel system.

http://www.capa.com.au/kits_holden_vnvt_v8.htm

However, the EFI V8 has a lot more "goodies" fitted as standard compared to a blue or red 308 - things like a double row timing chain, better pistons (still cast though) and much better rods, so Id be wary of pushing too much into a red or blue 308.

Cheers,

Mick

i think different models have different compression ratios but i dont see why not you can buy low boost turbo charger kits for all kinds of engines. my uncle has a methanol injected 871 blower on a stock 307 chev not sure what boost he has but its not dead yet he hasnt given heaps but he said he will see how long it lasts. he bought the setup for a drag car he has been building and just chucked it on his FC ute that has a standard 307 for some fun.
