I seen a photo of the first Holden V8 built. a 253 made on 15/10/1968
It is on page 4 of 60 fabulous years of Holden.
Does any one know anything more about this history leading up to the 7/7/1969 launching.
Were Holden testing only 253 in the HK.?
Any thing about the 253 testing in the Hurricane march 1969.

Norm Darwins new book Monaro Magic has a whole section dedicated to the development of the Holden V8.

It takes a lot to keep me interested, but that book was one I read cover to cover, and found hard to put down. I highly recommend it too. I have the History of the Holden V8 by Fiv Antoniou.
Very good book. that is why i want to know more.
I was looking in to how they cast crankshafts with different nodular metal combinations. and i am of the opinion that the very first cranks whilst being nodular they can not be the same as the others. because my crank rang like a bell when taped with a hammer. and the others dont. and the conrods were different to. with massive forging marks & different lighter brighter colour & texture was coarse. the ford 351 cleveland has different cast crank metals combinations to.
