Itll have to be chassis number. RTA never recorded the VIN.

SA is great! when i brought my HZ GTS about 2 years ago it was fully stripped and sitting in primer in a shed like it had been for the last 15 years. I went into the RTA with the engine number, last rego number (still have the original number plates) and chassis number the day after I brought it and took it home in 1 million pieces! walked out 10min later with it registed and in my name.
Got to love SA! Best thing is now I own the car and even if it takes me 5 years to finish the old owner can not turn around and say I stole it in 3 years time.
It blew me away that I could have a car with not 1 bolt left on it and even the engine fully stripped and register it. I told them it was on blocks at the moment. But it was not a consern. Mind you I didnt tell them that it was only a shell on block. the rest was in boxes!
Anyhow now what I was going to say was when I registed it the old rego history had the chassis number as NOT RECORDED. They said oh nah dont worry about recording that. (less paper work for them I guess). My reply was oh so if its stolen I have one more thing to prove of its ownership. So I made them put the chassis number on there. Didnt need any proof which was strange.
Cheers Jason |
