Hi I havnt had the plesure of being to past nationals. so what the norm with security . Do we leave cars at the grounds, remembering there will be some thieves there bad intentions as has being at the past two wintersuns. I havn't entered yet. Can you enter and not be judged (probably way to many faults) Dave

Cars security is up to the individual. Some people have hired storage sheds, but here is no secure parking at the event.
As for judging, all cars are placed in their classes, for display purposes, and then judged. The judging component is not everyones cup of tea, but having simular cars parked together for people to look at is the main aim.
As for wintersun, one theft happen to a car over 200km from the event (they were travelling to it) and another was not nessesarly because of the event.
To mu knowledge no Monaro has been stolen from a nationals.

DW,
The show and shine on the Saturday is like any other car show that is open to the public. The plus side of the Nationals is that there are many like minded enthusiast there and we all keep an eye out for each others cars.
Joe public will touch your car (as they think is thier right) and kids will play with your ropes and the display. Unfortuantely is is the cost of displaying your pride and joy.
As for after hours, if your car has security system and you are staying with other entrants, then things are genarally ok. Also most motels make an effort to increase their carpark security.
As for the drive up and back, then do like us and go in a convoy and all stay in the same place, ie motels with off street parking.
Re not wishing to have your car judged as "there are two many faults" i would encourage you to be judged as after the event you can get hold of your sheet and you can see what you need to do.
John

Good subject. This is one reason to ensure you have appropriate insurance cover on your car and that you tell the insurer what you will be doing with the car at such an event. It is usually too late after the fact if something terrible were to happen.
