Ahhh, well some people might think that I already overly enjoy the fruits of the Marlborough region, so yes, send some Sav Blanc please, lol.

Thats not a GMH VIN. Looks like a combo of a code off a body plate and a chassis number.

Did not think its correct but is on VTNZ records(stating thats what it should be)! And thats what they want to see on the car. The actual plate on the car is 80837TJ192236. VTNZ now want proof that the plate on the car was sold into NZ, have contacted Holden Auz & their records only go back to 1971, so am struggling to convince them that they have got it wrong.. Thank for the reply.

Is it possible to ask them to search the records back to the cars first registration in NZ? It may have had some plate changes or been unreg for a while, sometimes in these circumstances typos will creep in and become "official data".
I found with my HK that the Qld DOT had both the body number and the engine no incorrect by one digit each. When I regod the car in NSW that mistake was corrected, since then Ive made enquiries through the Qld Privacy Unit in order to find out what the cars first number plate was, ended up having to phone them to clear their mistake and once they had the correct numbers they found the records.

Car has not been registered for some years but still has original rego plates, its the rego plates that VTNZ searched & thier records show the odd vin no., may have been a typo from when first registered? Still working on it/them.. I really need someone from GM to confrim that "80837TJHT19270M" is not correct, that would be a start.

Just photocopy a HT parts catalogue, table of contents. Shows what the VIN is. HOWEVER, the VIN is not normally what is recorded, it will be the chassis number which is probably HT19270M. Somehow theyve got the first half of the VIN and the chassis number mixed up. Id take photos of the VIN plate and the chassis number on the firewall (and the ADR plate if its built after 1/1/70), grab a copy of the contents page of the HT parts catalogue and go pay them a visit.

i have a hk gts first registered in wellington jan 69 i have original rego papers the chassis no is 80737 then the firewall no. When i first went to rerego car in 1995 i manually wrote chassis no on the form which the post office worker said was wrong maybe stolen but he came outside to have a look where we figured out what had happened,at the time they were not able to change the vin records so we left it like that.post office guy reckoned back then mistakes very common but was happy when he saw the number was on my car just in two places/parts.Was yours a wellinton car my no plate begin eu is yours close.

Hi all, have just recieved new VIN # from VTNZ (only taken 6months) so all good now. Next question, now car is legal I have just filled fuel tank completly (bathurst tank) went for a drive, parked up in garage went out tho car 2 hours later to find petrol leaking out of cap? undone cap with fuel leaking out??? removed some petrol to about 1" below cap, next day home from work & petrol again leaking from cap & had to remove some more petrol (makes it own petrol, GREAT). Temp in garge not hot. Things pressurising ?? Where to look? Breather tube maybe?
Any thoughts?
Regards Jim
