Firstly Gday all, this is my first post as i am new to this forum.

I've recently purchased a 71 HQ tonner and am looking at putting a 9" diff in it. I have acquired a diff already shortened, 31 spline. I'm planning on putting in a turbo 400 box, what i want to know is what ratio diff gears should i use. This car will be mainly a weekend driver with also plans to drop some skids in it at car shows. So i'm after a set up that will be efficient to drive around for half a day in the city/bay area and not used too much if at all on the highway. I'm guessing something LSD would be good as opposed to a locker considering i will be driving it on the street too.

Also if anyone knows where i could get a HQ prem/stato radiator support panel in adelaide that would be handy too.

Thanks for your time and i look forward to contributing more on this forum.

Cheers

3.5 would be my choice, tyre diameter dependant.

Skids are what happens when you put the brakes on too hard. Doesnt matter what diff you have, the brakes are what do the job.

Well the thing is, i am currently overseas with work at the moment and seen the car on eBay and purchased it privately. I had a friend(mechanic) look over the car for me. The bloke who sold it to me said the motor is fresh with only 3000ks on it, rebuilt VL ex BT1 black 308, 276 cam(crane or crow, cant remember), flat top pistons, elderbrok manifold and 600 rochester carby. To be honest, i dont know how much power (kw/torque) it is producing. I should of got reciepts off the fella to see what work had been done. As im not back in adelaide for another 6 weeks, my missus has had the pleasure of tearing around in it.

Just really shooting the breeze at the moment, as i havent really got a clue on the full specs of the engine.
