Just bought a HJ wagon as a parts car, and I'd like some tips on removing (intact) a laminated w/screen as well as the fixed rear side glass.

i dunno this for sure but when i got my car painted they obviously took the screen out and i was told that its very hard to remove the glass intact. wethter they just said that so ihad to buy a new screen or not, who knows. i dunno if laminated makes an |

The removal will require two people, a fine drill hole, and some piano wire. The headlining will have to be removed and trims in and around the area. Its then a matter of sawing the old sealant out working your way aroudn the screen. Take it slow.

in the old days removing a laminated screen was easy as they did not use?...I HATE BRAIN FADE FROM BEING OLD!..whats that new sealer called?...maybe its the beer?...ANYWAY....whatever its called its a bitch to get a nice screen out without cracking it...U |

URETHANE...thats the sealer used these days...answered my own question...sticky horrible crap that seals the screen real good and usually makes them crack regardless of how good you are and using the correct tools....eg piano wire..good sunshine for heat |

my windscreen guy still used the heated wire type seal on hq,z etc

It's just about impossible to get the lminated ones out. Cut away as much of the old gunk as possible.You may find a couple of wire ends about halfway up one side. Connect a 12 volt battery to them and let it cook for a while that will soften the gunk. Ev

Thank you for all the replies. I had'nt thought about hooking the wires up to soften the seal. Great idea & will try it soon.
