na...i reckon it was parked going by the fact that the doors and centre pillar are entrenched in the car...if it was being driven it would have been a fatality and they havent removed anything to get what would be left of the human..

you need the rear bracket for the console?...rares sell them as a new console mount kit for around $55 each...for me to go and cut 10 out of cars which i may or may not have that many you would be looking at $25 each...thats of course if we are talking about the same bit.

Hi Greg, no, the plastic spreader bar that goes across ways under the consoles, there are about 3 per console. Side profile looks like a tall T. They are plastic welded on along the underside of the console itself, about 3 or 4 inches long

I reckon it had to be something low enough in the front, not to really hit the roof, but also strong enough not to deform too much as it punched the doors in.

Looking at the way its bent, and the angles, I think its come in at an angle from the drivers side rear (about 30 to 45 degrees off perpendicular) glancing the back wheel/tyre & wheelarch with their front left corner, and burying the nose into the car - like someone came around a right hand corner into a side street way too quick, this HZ was parallel parked against the kerb of that side street, and the car that hit it understeered wide.

Cheers,

Mick

just as a matter of interest regarding prices at damaged auctions...this car finished at $1500 under the hammer to a web bidder..so when you add buyers premium and online success fee and a tow to wherever it was going your looking at a tad under 2k...

Is that a reasonable price Greg? Considering how many parts on it are FUBAR.
I havent been to a damaged auction for a while. I did buy my HJ Statesman from the damaged auctions though for $2000. All perfectly original. Damage was limited to both passenger doors and sun fading. Got to the auction house in sydney, turned the key, drove it to canberra. Didnt even have to fill it up cause the tank was full. Only thing I did for rego was put my Hotwires on it cause the tyres on them were better.

well i didnt buy it...i stopped at 1200...if you didnt have stock or that car was something special then i would say it was a reasonable price for its parts...just wasnt good enough for me as i can still buy v8 hz prem undamaged for 2k.

my main reason for posting the price was to show people that this stuff isnt getting cheaper...its actually going a bit stupid and will eventually outprice itself..

quality wrecking stock is already hard to get at any reasonable sorts of prices and people are lazy in regards to repairing good straight panels with little rust..in other words they all want perfect..

saying that its not really a worry to me as ive collected a lot of stuff over the years..

Near $2000? Wow, someone must have some serious buffing skills.

With the time and effort ive no doubt theres that value in parts. I now a couple of guys who still do it personally, from their home and make solid money doing so.
