There are three fuel tanks in HG.

16 gallon banjo
16 gallon salisbury
25 gallon

Utes have the first two, and you would need it to be a factory 308 manual or 308 auto with high performance diff option to have number 2.

So what you more than likely have is number 1 which is th same as a 6 cylinder tank.

If it was a 253 ute it will be the same as a HG 253 GTS coupe or a 253/308 auto Monaro coupe with banjo. It wont fit a body with a Salisbury diff, unless the ute was a 308 manual, or possibly a Salisbury optioned 308 auto.

By the hump in the front edge, put there to clear a 12 bolt Salisbury but also fitted to all 10-bolt vehicles.

Thanks Byron

So is that a recess into the leading vertical face of the tank, or a raised section in the floor and therefore the top of the tank??

Cheers

Jeremy

Raised section in the floor in front of the tank, and the tank is shaped to follow it.

Very rare HG ute then as it must have been a 308. Was it a 4spd or auto?

Would be advisable to cut teh hump out of the ute also. Also saginaw hump on left side of trans tunnel would be handy for someone.

Option 1. Put it all back together and put it on ebay and advertise it as a monaro donor (now donning helmet & flak jacket).

Option 2. Fix it up and have a very rare ute.

Option 2. would be my pick.

Reality is only an illusion which occurs due to a lack of alcohol.

I have asked for some help decodeing the ute id numbers in another question and i am now wondering weather it would be worth spending the dollars on.does any body have an opinion on what it could be worth restored,as i am a dual trade panelbeater spraypainter so a lot of the resto would be time.but it would be good to know that it would be a desirable vehicle when finished.(I KNOW I WOULD NEVER GET MY MONEY BACK FROM A FULL RESTO)thanks heaps, mono
