Hi all I just purchased a headlining and am trying to fit it to my HZ Sandman Ute.
I have removed the old lining along with the mirror, front rubber, back window and int light.
I have re threaded the wire and the two bows on fitted it to the roof..
My questions are....

1/ How do i go about removing any wrinkles and creases?

2/ I am guessing i trim excess after gluing..

3/ Will standard contact adhesive do?

4/ Should I glue down the flaps that hang down the sides under the seatbelt mounts?

5/ Any tips to fitting the interior light and mirror. I am guessing i just punch a hole through once it is up and glued..

Thanks in advance

Carl

Thanks: 2 times
Like you Ive never done the full job, I had a trimmer do mine and I wasnt happy with it so I unglued the bits I didnt like and did it this way.

Start at the centre of the front screen and mark it (in line with the mirror stem), find the centre of the lining and mark it on the edge, make sure it looks straight and not wrinkled when you hold it up for a dry run, use old bits of pinchweld about 50mm long to clamp it on. You could probably leave it clamped and glue and fix one side then the other.

Apply contact cement to the frame and to the edge of the first section of lining, use a 13mm lining brush, you wont need it on thick just a smear and let it go tacky.

Then do it the way you found best with the pinchweld, the contact cement will grab so you need to be careful, if it starts to lift whack some pinchweld on it. You will need to keep a little bit of tension on it to avoid wrinkles.

When you are happy with that do the next section the same and so on, do the rear screen be the same as the front, make sure you find the centres and start there. I just trimmed it off leaving about 10mm on the outer face, use a box cutter or hard backed razor blade.

Thats what I did, hopefully a trimmer will come on and show you a better way.

Reality is only an illusion which occurs due to a lack of alcohol.
