Hi all,

I've got hot coolant somehow leaking into the cabin of my LX Torana. I've been smelling it for a while and the radiator coolant level has been dropping for a while too. I went around a corner today and hot coolant came from somewhere under the dash (near the middle) and splashed on my leg, buring my skin. So, my questions are?

Where is it likely to be coming from?
Is it from the heater box?
If so, Is the heater box inside the car or is it in the engine bay somewhere?
If it is the heater box, are replacements available?
If not the heater box, how else/why else would engine coolant be inside the cabin?
If it is the heater box, are they a bugger to replace?

Thanks.

Hi Paul,

I have never had coolant leak out of the heater box in my LH, but I have had the heater stop heating, so I've had my heater box out.

Yes, it's likely to be from your heater box. Coolant pumps from the radiator, through the engine, through

Have the engine running with the heater on and just make sure it's not a simple leaking hose before you go to all the bother of pulling it out and paying for a new radiator. I have had the hose develope a leak just where it attaches to the heater pipe.
