Gday everyone. I have an issue with the speedo in my VK (6 cyl, 4 speed phillipino box) it has been indicating that I have been doing 200klm/h at any speed and when reversing the needle moves back to 0klm/h. The odometer still works and all other guages still work as well.
I would like to know is the problem in the dash, the box or the speedo cable please?
If its the box and cable, then I have eliminated that part of the equation as I have changed the box(4 speed = SNAFU) and speedo cable to match the new box(5 speed) and would like to know do I get a auto electrician to check out the instrument cluster while I have easy access to it?
Nicho

Assuming that you have the correct speedo gear installed, I would find an instrument repairer and forget the auto elec.
Reality is only an illusion which occurs due to a lack of alcohol.

Gday 80569K
The speedo gear that I removed from car(VK SL Wagon, Black 3.3, carby, 4 speed box) to my knowledge was the factiory fitted one. The gear it self was a bright yellow in colour. And was an elongated T shape with a small rubber seal/grommit on the narrow end of it, inside the cable housing at the gearbox end.
I had the instrument cluster reconditioned by a instrument repairer approx 3 years ago, however have had this issue for 18 months now.
Nicho.
