Just this Andrew.....
If you dont like Ebays rules..... CANCEL your membership and dont use it.... Oh boohoo, they changed the rules after you joined and you dont like the new rule of having to accept Paypal... CANCEL your membership and dont use Ebay... cant get much simpler than that!!!!
Nobody is forcing you to sell on Ebay... it is your choice to do so.
I have been an Ebay member since 1999 and had a Paypal account for the same amount of time. I buy and sell mostly overseas and in all that time I have had 3 small packages not arrive... they were sent surface mail and no insurance so it was my own fault. I had one seller try to screw me by sending surface mail after I paid for airmail + insurance... I made a complaint to Paypal and had my money refunded for non-receipt of item. I never received the item.
These days I only send Ebay items registered and insured and pay for insurance on any items I buy and have posted to me.... I include the Ebay and Paypal fees in my start price and have not had a problem.
As for the idiots that say they make buyers wait 21 days for Paypal money to be drawn down to their account... that is utter BULLSH!T ... it takes around three days for money drawn down from Paypal to be deposited into your bank account. They also have no right to delay postage as Paypal transfers are immediate and once the payment is in their Paypal account they have immediate access to it to purchase items using Paypal.
Paypal E-Cheque can take up to two weeks to clear and the Paypal notification of pending payment you receive via email actually advises you DONT send the item until the funds have cleared. I simply email my customer and advise him that his funds are pending and the item will be posted as soon as I receive notification they have cleared.
Yes Paypal charge high fees for their service and yes I think it sucks that they include the postage price in the fee assesment but it is instant payment and extremely convenient when buying items overseas.... I am happy to pay for that convenience as the alternatives are a pain in the arse, can take a long time to clear or are very risky.
I have also used Paypal a lot for buying and selling outside of Ebay because of the ease of making and receiving payment with overseas transactions. There is no buyer protection with payments like there is on Ebay purchases though and as a seller Paypal cannot take money out of your account if the buyer makes a complaint.
Like it or not... use it or not.... I dont give a crap... but if you choose of your own free will to buy and sell on Ebay than dont fu#king whinge and whine about the excessive fees they charge and complain how "Paypal sux the Sh!t off a dead mans nuts!."
Clambake pretty much said the rest..... cant believe I am in agreement with him??? There are some people telling utter bullsh!t stories about their Ebay and Paypal experiences and the circumstances surrounding the transaction.
