hey probs a silly question but im trying to work out the ratio of a 10 bolt diff. took backing plate off as i could see no numbers on flange seal cover(was told sometimes stamped there)and only numbers i could find are.
3790628 11;37 GM 5-68 2 these numbers are on crown wheel.
can any one help out here please? thanks mono.

look on the crown wheel (the big cog ) should have ,,,,,ie,,,,3.08 they are all stamped,you may have to turn it around to see it.if its not ,you will have to calculate the old way.

yea na the numbers i have posted are the only numbers on the crown wheel,can you explain again the old way of calculating,turns per wheel equals turns at rear diff pinion?

Open-Style Differential - You MUST leave one rear tyre on the ground if if you have an open differential.


* TURN THE REAR WHEEL.
* Count the number of times the driveshaft spins for every TWO revolutions of the wheel.
* This number (including fractions of turns) is the gear ratio

ie like a clock 3 turns of the tailshaft =3.00
3 and a 1/4 turns is like 3.08
3 and a 1/2 turns is 3.55....and so on....ok?

or just divide the number of teeth on the pinion into the number of teeth on the crown wheel, easy and most accurate way.

Hi with that part no ending in 11,37 would be 3:36

thanks heaps lads,done the wheel rotation and the division method and came up with 3;36.thanks again, mono
