Yes and no, needs some money spent on it but its certainly a worthwhile project for the right buyer. The price is negotiable and I am confident it will sell in the next two - three weeks which is the time frame I have given myself to sell it in.

they all need dollars "thrown" at them and my word it is a worthy project, its a great car, but, without being cynical, they are just not that easy to move, particularly at the moment for some reason, all that stuff is slow and i dont know why? buyers market i reckon, and big time buyers market as well, probably never been better time coz there is alot of stuff popping up as well
good car tho stevie boy and best of luck either way, that why i really think you should hang on to it if you can

not that my opinion may meen much...in the market as it is a 253 4 door is worth around 4 to 5 k less than what your asking if you want to sell it in 2 to 3 weeks...2 to 5 months may be more achievable...

every car on the 2 pages of hq gts on carpoint is overpriced bar 2 or 3 which seem reasonable..

and i do know what the market is like as to get serious interest in my hq 350 coupe ive dropped the price by 15k...price is about the same as some clown asking for a modified one...

i disagree greg... steve has a genuine gts with original running gear, log books and tags that match the chassis... its also a driver albeit unregistered.... and when painted would be a very nice looking car...

its not rusted out or dissassembled into a million pieces so at $15K and stating he is negotiable he cant be as far off as you say... I understand you are saying he will need to drop his price to get a sale in 2 - 3 but he isnt so far off the mark imo....

in the end its all relative i guess....

good luck with the sale steve....

hmmm, i gotta agree with both greg and big AL, but i reckon greg is 110% right in what he is saying, they are all over priced by $4-5k AT A MINIMUM, and even though its a ripper car, its probably realistically worth $8-10k maximum, and if you want that $15-20k mark, 5-6mths would be how long it would take to achieve that, but having said that you never know where the market will be at that time, maybe harder again???

I dont mind the opinion guys, always worthy and interesting conversation. I had the car sold at $13500 off ebay then had the buyer pull out. Have had 2 offers of 12k today and more interest still coming through and some more people coming this week to view the car. I would dearly love to keep her but the realities of lifes priorities have caught up with me.

I am a big fan of your car Greg, ill swap you both my cars for it if you like!?!?

as i said its all relative.... if someone with a limited budget of say $5K to $6K was looking to enter the muscle car market (humour me frank!!!) then a basket case GTS /4 project that they can work on over a few years is just about their only option....

if your budget could afford upt to $15K then it would be a no brainer that steves car would be the way to go...

you cant even buy a HK shell for $15K these days....

and yes its a BLOODY MUSCLE CAR FRANK ...lol

after taking the time to looking at the pics, in my opinion if you get someone to part with $12 for the car take it, in reality imho its worth maybe $7K, why, its had atleast one respray (look at the dog leg drain covers), there is bog in the drivers rear 1/4, the trim is tired & the car deserves a full proper resto & yes its a matching Nos car which will go your way, but its not a coupe...
also for too long people have been basing value on ebay sales, but what I would like to know is how many cars have the sale completed, I hope you get what you want, but I wouldnt hold my breath...
Kevin
P.S. personally I would keep it...

for the majority of cars ebay is a massive w a n k...full of real keyboard jockeys that wish they had some money but can tell there mates they were bidding on a rare car..they type with one hand and squeeze with the other..

its an advertising tool that will only work if you put a phone number in to weed out the idiots to the real buyers...

i have sold a hell of a lot of cars on ebay over the years..and yes i am a licensed dealer...but never has an auction ended that the winning bidder bought it...i have either ended the auction early or had someone contact me after..

its been over 10 years since i have had a HQ GTS 4, but i agree with greg and others.
if your doing over $10k for that your doing well.

no such thing as an "easy resto"

To weigh in to this (and to bump Steves car up :D ), I notice that a few of them have HQ statesman fronts on them on the Carpoint site.

These never came standard with the statesman style front did they?

Reason I ask is because there is so many on there, mine actually has a Statesman front also (which I despise)so Im guessing it was either an option, available as that or a bunch of people with no taste decided to put the Statesman front on them for whatever strange reason...........
